Message from Chairman

Dear Stakeholders,

Sub- Invitation of suggestions for 12th Plan proposals of Rubber Board

As per the Rubber Act (1947), the mandate of Rubber Board is to promote the development of natural rubber (NR) industry in India. The Board has been planning and implementing several Schemes for the development of the NR industry. Currently, India is the fourth largest producer and second largest consumer of NR in the world and has been occupying the top most position in productivity since 2006.

The development schemes of the Board are part of Five Year Plans implemented by the Government of India. We are nearing the end of 11th Five Year Plan period (2007-08 to 2011-12). The Board has already initiated work to formulate proposals for Schemes to be implemented during the 12th Five Year Plan (2012-13 to 2016-17). A National Committee comprising experts from different disciplines has been constituted to evaluate the 11th Plan Schemes of the Board so as to generate inputs for formulation of 12th Plan proposals. Internationally renowned agricultural scientist and Member of Parliament Dr. M S. Swaminathan has kindly consented to chair the National Committee.

In order to ensure full participation of stakeholders in the formulation of the 12th Plan proposals, the Board has scheduled a series of consultations with various segments of rubber industry stakeholders. On behalf of the Board, I earnestly invite online observations on the current Schemes and suggestions for formulation of new/revised Schemes for implementation during 12th Plan from stakeholders and interested general public. You may either log on to our site and key in the observations/proposals in the Suggestion Box or attach a file. Documents on the 11th Plan Schemes of the Board are available on the website for your reference.

Let me assure you that your observations and suggestions will be considered seriously while formulating the 12th Plan proposals, subject to the guidelines and priorities set by the Government of India and Planning Commission.

Yours sincerely
(Sheela Thomas)
