The Rubber Board conducted a debating competition on the topic ‘Is the present vigilance system in government sufficient to eradicate corruption’ at the Board’s Head Office, Kottayam in connection with the observance of Vigilance Awareness Week. Teams from the Rubber Board, Hindustan Newsprint Limited and Spices Board of India won first, second and third prizes respectively.
Prof. Madavana Balakrishna Pillai, Director, Department of Communication and Journalism, Mahatma Gandhi University was the moderator of the competition. Dr. Babu Cherian (Associate Professor, CMS College) and Dr. Paul Manalil (writer and journalist) were the judges.
Employees from Life Insurance Corporation of India, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Food Corporation of India, Employees’ Provident Fund Organization, State Bank of Travancore and Rubber Producers’ Societies also participated.
Smt. C.E. Jayasree and Smt. Rema G. Nair (Rubber Board); Smt. S.N. Remadevi and Arun Mohan (Hindustan Newsprint Limited); Sri. M.K. Kesavan Namboothiri and Dr. V. Sreekumar (Spices Board of India) were the participants of the winning teams.
Padmabushan Sri. K.T. Thomas, Honorable Judge (retired), Supreme Court will distribute the prizes at the closing ceremony scheduled at Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) on 30 October 2015.
