An official mission from Malaysia led by Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, Government of Malaysia visited the Rubber Board today to learn the activities of the Board in extension, research and other areas. The team was received at Rubber Research Institute of India (RRII) by Mrs. Sheela Thomas, Chairman, Rubber Board and senior officers of the Board. The mission was accompanied by Dato Henry Sum Agong (Member of Parliament, Malaysia), Datuk Naimun Ashakli Mohammad (High Commissioner of Malaysia in India), Dr. Salmiah Ahmad, Director General Malaysian Rubber Board and senior officials from the Ministry of Plantation Industries and Commodities and Malaysian Rubber Board.
Mrs. Sheela Thomas made a presentation about the NR scenario of India. Dr. Thomas J. (Rubber Production Commissioner), Dr. James Jacob (Director, RRII), Dr. C. Kuruvilla Jacob (Director, Rubber Training Institute), Mr. N. Rajagopal (Director Processing & Product Development), Mr. C.C. Chacko (Director, Licensing & Excise Duty), Mr. Ramesh B Nair (Jt. Director, Statistics & Planning), Dr. Binoi Kurian (Dy. Director, Marketing), Mr. M.G. Sathees Chandran (Dy. Director, Publicity & Public Relations), Mr. Toms Joseph (Dy. Director, Economics) and Mr. Jome Jacob (Dy. Director, Statistics & Planning) participated in the discussions.
The team also visited the Apollo Tyres Factory at Perambra, Chalakkudy.
