Rubbers tappers integral part of rubber cultivation:Sheela Thomas

Rubber tappers are an integral part of rubber cultivation and their welfare is important for the development of rubber sector, said Mrs. Sheela Thomas, Chairman, Rubber Board. She was delivering a speech in a function held at Pala Marketing Society auditorium, Pala in connection with the release of ‘Rubber Tappers’ Directory’.
Rubber cultivation is much dependent on rubber tappers and the data received from the survey would be utilized for the welfare of rubber tappers, said Dr. Thomas J, Rubber Production Commissioner, who presided over the meeting
Tappers’ Directory is prepared regional wise and the directories of Pala, Kottayam, Kanjirappally and Erattupetta regions were received by the presidents of the Rubber Producers’ Societies (RPSs) viz. Mr. V.U. Joseph (Palakkad RPS), Mr. C.J. Thomas (Pangada RPS), Mr. P.T. Avira (Elamkulam North RPS) and Mr. K.J. Joseph (Edamaruk RPS) respectively from Mrs. Sheela Thomas, Chairman, Rubber Board.
Mr. D. Anilkumar, Jt.Rubber Production Commissioner welcomed the gathering and Mrs. P.S. Salomi, Dy. Rubber Production Commissioner proposed a vote of thanks.
It is for the first time that the Rubber Board is publishing a directory of the rubber tappers. The directory is based on the survey conducted by the Board in association with Rubber Producers’ Societies in Kerala.
