Road to JJ Murphy cemetery inaugurated

Sri. Anto Antony MP inaugurated the construction work of the road that leads to the cemetery of J.J. Murphy, pioneering rubber planter in a function at Parish Hall, St. Mary’s Church, Yenthayar. He said in his inaugural speech that rubber is the only crop that gives economic stability to the State and Murphy’s contribution in expanding commercial rubber cultivation in the State has to be acknowledged.

Rubber Production Commissioner Dr. Thomas J in his key note address, said that Murphy was a pioneer in the rubber plantation sector and ensured fare wages to his labourers.

Sri. George J Mathew (Board Member and Ex-MLA), Sri. KJ Thomas (Ex-MLA), Sri. VM Joseph (President, Grama Panchayath, Koottickal), Smt. Aisha Usman (Member, Block Panchayath), Fr. Peter Nelson (Former Vicar, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Yenthayar), Fr. Joseph Naduvelekuttu (Vicar, St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Yenthayar), Sri. James Valayinchi (President, Yenthayar Rubber Producers’ Society), Sri. D. Anil Kumar (Jt. Rubber Production Commissioner), Sri. K.C. Jose (Dy. Rubber Production Commissioner) and Sri. Shaji T. Asiz spoke on the occasion.
