Road to JJ Murphy cemetery to be inaugurated

The construction work of the road that leads to the cemetery of Sri. J.J. Murphy, pioneering rubber planter, will be inaugurated by Sri. Anto Antony MP in a function at Parish Hall, St. Mary’s Church, Yenthayar on 7 January 2014 at 10 am.
Sri. J.J Murphy came to India from Ireland in 1900 and was instrumental in expanding commercial rubber cultivation in the country. The Rubber Board is taking the initiative to construct the road that leads to the final resting place of Murphy to acknowledge his pioneering efforts in the rubber plantation sector.
Smt. Sheela Thomas, Chairman ,Rubber Board, Sri. George J Mathew (Board Member and Ex-MLA), Sri. KJ Thomas (Ex-MLA), Sri. VM Joseph (President, Grama Panchayath, Koottickal) and Dr. Thomas J (Rubber Production Commissioner) will speak on the occasion.
