India Rubber Meet 2014 to be inaugurated by Vikram Kirloskar ....
A historic international event for the Indian Rubber Sector

In an event that will go down in history of the Indian Rubber Industry, the entire sector in India for the first time, comes together to organize the first "India Rubber Meet 2014". The two-day Meet will be inaugurated by Mr Vikram Kirloskar (President of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers and Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor) on 20 February 2013 at Le Meredien Convention Centre, Kochi. The timing of this event could not be more precise than this, as the Industry is looking forward to confirming its status as a sunrise sector and the deliberations at the event are expected to guide the industry on the way forward. Reeling under the pushes and pulls of global economic developments, the Indian rubber industry has been witnessing a double digit growth especially on the export front during the last decade. This forum will further guide the industry as to how the entire value chain of Indian rubber sector -- planters, dealers, raw material suppliers, importers, manufacturers, exporters, machinery sector etc., including associations and the government will play a role in creating a vision and goal for the Indian rubber industry.

Led by the Rubber Board in partnership with various stakeholder associations in rubber and related sectors, the India Rubber Meet 2014 (IRM 2014) will be held at Le Meridien Convention Centre, Kochi on 20 and 21 February 2014. This will be the launch edition of IRM, which will be held annually from 2014.

With a theme, “Indian Rubber: New Horizons”, IRM 2014 has invited talks by internationally renowned speakers on topics such as economic outlook, technology and innovation, regulations and legislations, sustainability and market/rubber industry outlook . Speakers include Sri. Sunny Varghese (Group MD and Chief Executive Officer, Olam International Singapore), Dr. Stephen Evans (Secretary-General, International Rubber Study Group, Singapore), Mr. David Shaw (Managing Director, Tyre Industry Research, London) Ms. Sunny Song (Director, China Rubber Industry Association, Beijing), Ms. Fazilet Cinaralp (Secretary-General, European Tyre and Rubber Manufacturers’ Association, Belgium), Mr. James L. McGraw (MD & CEO, International Institute of Synthetic Rubber Producers Inc., Texas), Dr. Kamarul Baharain Basir (Secretary-General, Association of Natural Rubber Producing Countries, Kuala Lumpur), Dr. Salmiah Ahmad (Director-General, Malaysian Rubber Board), Dr.Pongsak (Honorary President, Thai Rubber Association), Daud Husni Bastari (Chairman, Rubber Association of Indonesia), Dr. Tran Thi Thuy Hoa (Vietnam Rubber Association), Mr.Lakna Paranawithana (Senior Adviser, Sri Lanka Society of Rubber Industry), Mr. Sandana Das (CEO, R1 International Group, Singapore) and Smt. Sheela Thomas (Chairman, Rubber Board, India).

Interactive panel discussions on the selected theme and other topics involving experts and key stakeholders from different segments of rubber industry will give a realistic overview to the industry which is curious about its future. The panelists for the discussion on ‘Present and near-term global scenario of NR producing countries’ will represent Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, India, China and Sri Lanka. Those for the discussion on ‘Indian Rubber Scenario: Stakeholders’ perspective’ will represent different sectors of rubber Industry like rubber growers, processors, traders, tyre and non-tyre product manufacturers, synthetic and reclaimed rubber producers and developmental bodies that support the industry.

IRM 2014 is targeted to attract around 600 delegates from India and abroad. IRM will bring the rubber fraternity of the country under a single umbrella to take stock of emerging trends in raw material production and processing, trading, end product manufacturing, export, etc. Details are available from the website
