Aryadan Mohammed to inaugurate Solar Plant in Rubber Board

Sri. Aryadan Mohammed, Minister for Power and Transport, Govt. of Kerala will inaugurate two solar plants of 50 KW capacity each installed in the Rubber Board in a function to be held at Rubber Research Institute of India, Kottayam on 13 December 2013 at 4.00 pm. Smt. Sheela Thomas, Chairman, Rubber Board will preside over the function. The plants are installed at Rubber Training Institute and Golden Jubilee Memorial Building of the Board.

The solar plants installed have the capacity for producing 400 units of electricity daily. The plants were installed by Project & Equipment Corporation Ltd (PEC), a Delhi based public sector company. An amount of Rs.1.50 crore has been spent by the Board for the purpose. The Board expects that the solar plants will help it to attain self-sufficiency in electricity to a certain extent and the capital investment will be recovered within a period of ten years.
