The Rubber Board bags another award for its skill development initiatives

Rubber Skill Development Council (R.S.D.C) has selected the Rubber Board as its best training partner. Smt. Sudha, Director(Training) received the award for the Rubber Board from Sri. Manish Kumar, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of National Skill Development Corporation at a function held at New Delhi. . Sri. Satish Sharma ( Chairman, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association), Anjan Kumar Gosh (Vice-Chencellor, Tripura University)Sri. Vinod Simon( Chairman, RSDC) Smt.Meghna Misra(Chief Operating Officer, RSDC) and Smt. Sivani Nagpal (Director, RSDC) attended the function. Sri. V.A. Sakeer, Assistant Development Officer, Rubber Board received the award for the best trainer, S/s Prasad Singh , Sunil A, and Udaya from Kozhikode, Thalassery and Kanhangad respectively received the award for the best trainees.
In the function , Sri. Sriram Venkataraman IAS, Chief Executive Officer, Additional Skill Acquisition Programme received the award on behalf of Government Kerala for the successful implementation of the programme.
Earlier, Rubber Board was adjudged as Champion Project Implementing Agency (PIA) under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. This award was received by Sri. E.A.Mathew, Deputy Director (ED) on behalf of the Board from Mr. Arun Jaitley, Hon’ble Minister of Finance and Corporate affairs, at New Delhi.
The Rubber Board has successfully implemented the first phase of the PMKVY Scheme for Kerala in 2016-17 by providing training to 10,000 persons. About 40 per cent among the beneficiaries were owner tappers and the upskilling training was highly beneficial for them to adopt cost effective practices like low frequency tapping/weekly tapping. The second phase of the Project to impart training to 22,000 persons in rubber plantation sector is under implementation in in five states viz., Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Assam.
By 2020, the Rubber Board plans to certify all the tappers engaged in rubber plantation sector in the country under the PMKVY Scheme.
