NABL accreditation for Rubber Board Technical Consultancy Division
Kottayam, 21 April 2017

The Technical Consultancy Division of the Rubber Board got accreditation for testing from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL). Mr. A. Ajith Kumar IAS, Executive Director, Rubber Board handed over the certificate of accreditation to Dr. James Jacob, Director, Rubber Research Institute of India.

NABL is an autonomous body functioning under the Science and Technology Department of Central Government to provide government, industry associations and industry in general with a scheme for third party assessment of the quality and technical competence of laboratories. Since NABL has agreements with ILAC (International Laboratory Accreditation Conference) and APLAC (Asia Pacific Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation), the accreditation will help better International recognition and mutual acceptance of test results. Test results and certificates from accredited laboratories have worldwide acceptance.

The Technical Consultancy Division of RRII conducts various tests on over 8000 samples annually as per national and international specifications and issue test reports. The advantages with NABL accreditation are that the test samples and results are traceable and the report can be obtained without delay. This accreditation guarantees that the test results given from this laboratory are of the highest quality as these are obtained using well calibrated and maintained laboratory equipment.

NABL accredited laboratories gives special importance to customer feed-back and daily improvement of the laboratory practices within the scope of its activities. Since certificates from NABL approved laboratories are accepted globally, Board’s clients can now make the best use of this new facility to compete in the export market. Apart from providing testing services, RRII also provide technical assistance to prospective entrepreneurs for developing various types of rubber products.
