Rubber skill development - first phase completed

The first phase of skill development programme for rubber plantation sector undertaken by the Rubber Board in collaboration with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) has been is completed. As part of this, 9702 people were trained in two job roles, namely Latex Harvest Technician (tapper) and Latex Processing Technician. Procedures for certifying these trainees have also been completed. The first phase of the training was conducted during the period from November 2016 to January 2017. Details of the trainees will be published on the websites of the Board and PMKVY.
The Board will take the initiative to enrol these certified persons in the tapper banks being formed under the local Rubber Producersí Societies. Tapper banks are Self Help Groups (SHGs) formed with an objective of ensuring regular employment to workers in the rubber sector.
