Rubber Board Call Centre to answer queries on beekeeping

The season for collecting honey from rubber plantations is about to begin. Rubber growers can contact Rubber Board Call Centre to know how maximum output could be obtained from beekeeping in rubber plantations. Mr. Biju Joseph, bee keeping trainer associated with Rubber Training Institute and a member of Palakkad Rubber Producers’ Society, Meenachil, Pala will answer the questions on the subject on 21 December 2016 from 10.00 am to 1.00 pm. The rubber tree is a prolific source of honey, which is obtained from the extra floral nectaries at the tip of the petiole, where the leaflets join. Honey flow starts from the middle of January. Rubber Board has been promoting beekeeping in rubber holdings. If the potential is properly utilized, rubber growers can get substantial ancillary income from this practice.
The Call Centre service of the Board is available from 9.30 am to 5.30 pm on all working days.
