Production of natural rubber(NR) in the country registered 10.8% growth during September'03 as compared to September'02 due to favourable weather conditions and improved price. The production was 64815 tonnes during September'03 as against 58480 tonnes during September'02. The cumulative production during the first half of the current year, which was 313825 tonnes, has depicted a growth of 11.4% as compared to the production of 281635 tonnes during the same period of the previous year. The production provisionally estimated for October'03 is 68000 tonnes.
Consumption of NR has marginally decreased to 60310 tonnes during September'03 compared to 61205 tonnes during August'03. However total consumption of NR has depicted an increase of 4% for the first six months of the current fiscal. The consumption during the period April '03 to September'03 was 355465 tonnes as against 341890 tonnes during the same period of the last year.Consumption by the Auto Tyre sector has posted a growth of 5.9 %. The provisional estimate of the consumption during October'03 is 58000 tonnes.
Import of NR during September '03 was 1973 tonnes as against 687 tonnes during September'02. The total import of NR during April'03 to september,03 was 21993 tonnes compared to 12043 tonnes during the same period of the last year.
The export of NR during September'03 was 7197 tonnes as compared to 6159 tonnes during September'02. The total export of NR during the fist half of the current year was 19999 tonnes compared to 20639 tonnes during the same period of the last year. The total stock of NR at the end of September '03 was 83040 tonnes.
The production of Synthetic Rubber(SR) increased to 8402 tonnes during
September '03 as against 7029 tonnes during August'03. The production of SR during April'03 to September'03 was 41589 tonnes as against 39092 tonnes during the same period of the last fiscal. The consumption of SR slightly increased to 17625 tonnes during September'03 as against 17515 tonnes during August'03. The cumulative consumption of SR during the first six months of the current year was 100835 tonnes as against 95025 tonnes at a growth rate of 6.1%
