Is there any work attempted to replace manual tapping with mechanized tapping? And what is its prospects?
The work has been attempted in many countries to replace manual tapping. It may be noted that, bark thickness of trees in a block, varies considerably. A skilled tapper can tap the trees, as per the bark thickness, without injuring the cambium, whereas as a machine cannot. A machine however cannot replace the efficiency of skilled tapper.
